Comforters are regarded as heavy bedcovers. In most cases, the materials used are cotton or polyester. Sometimes the two materials are used together; a case where cotton is the only material used will have the comforter come out quite light. The prints or designs that are used are quite many; it is therefore hard not to find something that suits your taste.
One way to make sure that your duvet doesn't fold or crumple within the cover (even if the duvet is kicked or tossed around) is to use duvet cover clips, available in a home and lifestyle store or at the bed linen department of a home furnishing store. These nifty clips fasten the duvet to the cover. Now that you have learned how to stuff a duvet cover easily, no need to dilly-dally with the laundry, you can even teach the kids how to do this simple chore!
A comforter is a type of bed linen that is used for spreading as a bedspread or over thinner bedspreads and layers of blankets. A comforter is always larger than the bed size and is meant to cover the sides of the bed to create a wrapping effect. Such bed linens are thick blankets that are often quilted and fluffy.
These were initially manufactured for NASA in 1970s, to help the astronauts get relief from the gravitational force they experienced during the takeoff of a spaceship. A typical characteristic of these mattresses is that they take a shape in the way the pressure is applied, and come back to their original form after removal of the pressure. In 1980s, these mattresses were introduced in the market for consumers. These are made from either of the three types of materials, viz., viscoelastic material, latex, or polyurethane.
